Who Africa HR Solutions suits
You already have your candidate. A fit if you want a person to call rather than a ticket queue, and practical set-up handled: office leasing, laptops, relocation, and a dedicated key account manager from day one. The free life cover is a small bonus. Get the employing entity, the fee and the South African statutory list in writing first, because the site does not publish them.
You need someone found. Not offered; the service assumes you have identified your employee. The majority shareholder is a recruitment group and a South African recruiter appears in the logo strip, so a referral may be possible, but it is not a published service.
You already use an EOR in another country. Strongest if that country is in Africa: 46-plus African countries under one supplier, cross-border payments, immigration, and a business that runs delivery for other EOR providers. If your current provider is a global platform, Africa HR adds African breadth and benefits, not South African depth.
Look elsewhere if South Africa is your only market and you want local statutory depth documented, you need a price before a sales call, you require a confirmed South African employing entity, your candidate expects a recognised South African medical aid scheme, you need candidates sourced, or documented CCMA representation is a requirement.

What Africa HR Solutions costs
Published rates on the scale: $199, $299, $459, $599, $699.
Published rates only. Africa HR publishes no rate, range or model; the only cost figures on the site are a $40,000 benchmark for setting up your own entity and an 8.5% employer social cost line on the South Africa page. Several South African specialists also quote after a call.
Here is every cost line we could find for one Africa HR hire in South Africa. Where a figure is published it is shown; where it isn't, the line says so. We do not add these up, because the fee itself is a quote.
| Monthly EOR fee | Not published, quote only | A third-party comparison lists $375 per month first-year all-in for SA; not a published figure |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | Not published | Reviewers describe deposits as "sometimes required"; ask |

THREE THINGS TO GET IN WRITING FROM AFRICA HR SOLUTIONS
- The monthly EOR fee at your salary level, whether flat or percentage-based, and what the 8.5% employer social cost covers
- Confirmation that the life insurance is at no cost and whether the top-up is charged; whether a South African medical aid scheme and provident fund can be offered instead of the international plans
- Office leasing, laptop, car and housing costs, itemised
How soon your person starts
IF YOU HAVE A CANDIDATE
5-10 business days
From the homepage, which says most clients are fully operational within 5-10 business days. The same page says most clients begin onboarding within 48 hours, but that refers to onboarding starting, not the employee being in place. The FAQ says one week in select countries; the South Africa page says "in days rather than months". None is SA-specific; plan on 5-10 business days.

Not offered
Africa HR does not recruit. Add your own search time, or a recruiter's, before the 5-10 business days above. Providers that include recruitment publish 2-4 weeks brief-to-hire; you can compare them in the tool.

Working with Africa HR Solutions
WHO YOU DEAL WITH
A dedicated key account manager as a single point of contact. The FAQ says you will not be talking to a chatbot or redirected to a call centre, but dealing directly with a consultant, client lead or the Head of Client Relationship. The SA page carries bios for a Head of Operations, a Head of Legal & Compliance and a Head of Commercial, but not their locations. Ask where the team handling your payroll sits and what hours it keeps.
WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY
Named testimonials from Nutreco, VillageReach and Abt Global sit on the site. No third-party rating is cited here.
WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG
The FAQ is detailed on offboarding: Africa HR manages the process in line with local law, covering notice periods, documentation and severance, and advises you beforehand on risks, costs and timelines. It does not state who represents the employer at the CCMA, who attends a disciplinary hearing, who pays or who decides settlement. The South Africa page does not name the CCMA at all.
LEAVING
Minimum headcount, contract term, notice period and offboarding charges are not published. Life cover runs for as long as Africa HR remains the EOR, so it ends when you leave; ask how employee benefits transition if you move to another provider or your own entity.
South African compliance
Africa HR does not state its South African entity model; the site describes a mixture of wholly owned subsidiaries, joint ventures and in-country partners without saying which applies here. The South Africa page names two statutory obligations: UIF, with a 1% employee contribution and an employer social cost put at "typically 8.5% of gross remuneration", and COIDA. It does not name SDL, PAYE, EMP201, EMP501, IRP5, the BCEA, the LRA or the CCMA. Offboarding is managed in line with local law with advance advice on risks, costs and timelines; CCMA representation is not addressed.
How Africa HR Solutions scores on the ten needs
These are the same ten needs the comparison tool on this site asks you to choose from, and these are Africa HR's ticks in it. A tick means Africa HR met the published-evidence bar for that need; a dash means it didn't.
- Not met:Keeping costs downNo price, range or model is published.
- Not met:Onboarding within 48 hours"Begin onboarding within 48 hours" means onboarding starting; the same homepage puts full operation at 5-10 business days.

Pick your own three priorities and see which providers match all of them.
Compare providersOur overall impression
Where Africa HR Solutions stands out
Breadth first. Forty-six-plus African countries under one contract, cross-border payments and immigration, and a business that runs delivery for other EOR providers. If South Africa is one of several African markets you are hiring in, that is a real difference from a South Africa-only specialist.
Service second. A dedicated key account manager rather than a call centre, an award-winning payroll function, ISO 27001, 400-plus clients and a JSE-listed majority shareholder. Office leasing, laptops, car rental, housing and relocation are all published services, so workspace, equipment and the employment itself come from one supplier.
The benefits offer is a modest extra: free life cover from day one and a health plan with guaranteed acceptance. Useful, but international plans rather than a named South African medical aid, which is what your candidate will ask about.
Where you should probe
The South African documentation does not match the company's evident capability. The South Africa page names UIF and COIDA and nothing else: not SDL, PAYE, the BCEA, the LRA or the CCMA. For a provider positioned on African expertise, that is the most surprising thing in this review.
The onboarding claims vary: 48 hours, one week, "in days", 5 to 10 business days. Only the last describes an employee actually in place. The entity question is unresolved, there is no price, and there is no South African office.
And the benefits are pan-African plans rather than a named South African medical aid, which a local candidate will usually ask about.
Africa HR Solutions FAQs
Not stated. The site describes wholly owned subsidiaries, joint ventures and in-country partners without specifying South Africa. Ask which applies and get the registered name and CIPC number.
No pricing is published, and the site does not say whether the fee is flat or a percentage of cost to company. The only cost figures are a benchmark of around $40,000 for setting up your own entity and an 8.5% employer social cost line on the South Africa page. Request a written quote.
The Africa EOR services page and the life-insurance page state that premiums are covered by Africa HR, with cover from day one, no medical questionnaire and no hidden costs. The benefit is a fixed USD 20,000 for employees aged 18 to 64, with an optional top-up to USD 100,000 subject to a health declaration; suicide is excluded for the first 24 months. Confirm eligibility in writing.
None is named. The published health offering is a pan-African plan underwritten by the Unisure Group, with guaranteed acceptance and annual limits stated as exceeding $5 million. Ask whether a local scheme is available.
The homepage says most clients begin onboarding within 48 hours and are fully operational within 5 to 10 business days; the FAQ says one week in select countries and the South Africa page says "in days rather than months". Plan on 5 to 10 business days and confirm the South African figure in writing.

How we're funded. Some providers pay us a referral fee when you request a quote through this site. Fees never affect how a provider is assessed, where it appears, or whether it is listed at all. Read our full disclosure.
Everything above comes from Africa HR Solutions' own published material, checked on the date at the top of this page. Where we could not find something, we say so rather than guess. Full detail on our methodology page.
